Indonesian Niagara: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall or Coban Sewu in Lumajang, East Java
If you are going on the trip to East Java, you need to take a look at Tumpak Sewu Waterfall or Coban Sewu in Lumajang regency. This waterfall has been claimed to be Indonesian Niagara, so, imagine how pretty the scenery is with the waterfall from many sources surrounded by greenish trees.

Getting to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall in Lumajang
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is located in Sidomulyo Village, Pronojiwo, Lumajang, East Java. There are two main roads to reach Tumpak Sewu Waterfall in Lumajang:

  1. If you start from Malang City, the travel route will be through Bululawang – Dampit – Tirtomoyo – Pronojiwo – and then the border between Lumajang and Malang. If you go straight you will see a monument. So, about 100 meters before the monument you will a downhill alley in the right side of the road. Get to the alley and go straight for 200 meters until you find the sand miners’ hut. From there you need to continue the trip by walking alongside the river before you reach the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall.
  2. If you come from Jember, the route will be start from Jember then continue to Rambupuji à Bangalsari à Tanggul à Jatiroto à Sukodono à Lumajang City. Besides, you can take the alternative route which is start from Rambipuji à Balung à Kasiyan à Gumuk Mas à Kencong à Yosowilangun à Tempeh à Pasirian à Candipuro à Pronojiwo.

Enjoying the Beautiful Sites
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is not only tourist site you can visit. Besides, there are many beautiful spots which attracts many tourists in this area:

Tetes Cave
Before Tumpak Sewu Waterfall was opened, Tetes Cave was the only tourist destination in this area. It was called Tetes Cave as the water coming from the springs doesn’t flow as hard and as swift as a waterfall. Instead, the water flows slowly and stick to the cave’s walls making the crystallized crusts.

From the Tetes Cave, we walk along the river and finally come to the main destination which is Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. We can see the water falls from numerous springs (we can’t count the exact numbers) making some layers which is why it is called ‘numpak’.

Bening Lake
When we’re back from Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, you can stop by a lake called Telaga Bening or Clear Lake as the water is so clean and clear. It is the perfect spot to wash yourself after playing around in the Waterfall.

Photo Spot
In the entry ticket, it is listed that you can use it to enter the Photo Spot area in Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls. The Photo Spot is located in the higher land than the Waterfall. Hence, you can take a picture there with Tumpak Sari Waterfall as the background. Nice, isn’t it?
